Psalm 139 - Kingdom Woman Bloghop

Crack open your Bible somewhere close to the middle, and you'll find the book of Psalms. Towards the end of the book of Psalms, you will find Psalm 139, and there you will find some very awesome verses about the God who loves you.

As part of the Kingdom Woman One Month Journey, we were challenged to focus on this Psalm over the past week. As I read through this Psalm for the 3rd or 4th time, I wrote down some insights, and I figured I'd share them with you. And, I'd love it if you'd leave a comment sharing some of what you've drawn from this passage, as well.

First, here's a link to Psalm 139, in case you don't have your Bible handy.

And here's what has really spoken to me this week:

Verse 4: God knows what we're going to say before we say it. This means that He can help us control our tongue, our words, if we just ask Him to. As someone who is really trying to do a better job of honoring God in what I say, and how I say it, this verse definitely hit home.

Verse 6 (and 1 - 6): God is always with us, wherever we go. And knowing that should fill us with wonder and awe. The God that created the sun, moon, and stars, goes with me everywhere I go, and even lays His hand upon me (vs 5) in gentle reassurance. How awesome is that?!

Verse 12: Even in our darkest times, His light is still there. The darkness is not dark to God. We can look to Him to shine His light into the darkest places we may find ourselves.

Verse 13: He formed us in our mother's womb. He's been involved in my life since day one, since I was conceived. Before I even drew breath He was with me, and He knew then what the days ahead would bring (vs 16).

Verse 17: God's word reveals to us God's thoughts. We can know God's thoughts! This should make the Bible precious to us. It reminds me of when my husband was in boot camp. Every letter he would send to me was precious. I anxiously awaited each one. I couldn't wait to read his thoughts as they were written down on paper, so that I could feel close to him when he was so far away. Shouldn't we have that same anticipation to read God's word? The God who made us, who goes with us always, who died for us - shouldn't we get excited to hold His precious thoughts in our hands so that we can know Him better and feel close to Him?

Verse 23-24: We should ask God to search out our innermost thoughts and show us anything in us that displeases Him. When we surrender our way to Him, He will lead us in His way, which is everlasting!

A brief intro...

Two months ago I made the decision to get serious about dropping that 20lbs I'd put on. I'd lost it during a time of extreme stress, so it was not lost in a healthy way, so of course it came right back. But just because it came back didn't mean I had to keep it! This time, I knew I had to do it the right way. So began 6 weeks of calorie restriction.

Using MyFitnessPal, I tracked everything I ate, as well as any exercise I did. I began to run again. Running was a good habit I'd picked up during my stress-filled days, but I'd gotten out of the habit when things in my life returned to normal. Over the course of about six weeks, I lost 10 pounds and over 2 inches off my muffin top. All in all, not a bad result. I would have continued counting calories and running every day, and probably would have lost more weight too. But...

Then I found Nia Shanks. Nia's mindset on women's fitness changed my entire way of thinking. No longer am I counting calories- now I'…

Awesome Blog Design

After hours of hard tedious work, I've finally created a blog layout that I think is pretty awesome. I still need to tweak the layout by adding some content to the sidebar, maybe creating a button/icon. and a coming up with a post signature to match the new design. BUT, in the meantime, I think what I've got is pretty awesome, and best of all - I did it myself!

Of course, now I want to create more and more blog layouts. Designing the layout and header was a lot of fun. Working the new layout and header into the blog design so that it actually looks good, not so fun. So, I may make a few more so I'll be ready for all the upcoming seasonal holidays. But for now, I hope you like this one, because I'm done playing with HTML coding for awhile!
